Stuffed in Los Angeles and Las Vegas in July | Coisado em LA e LV em julho

My short film STUFFED is one of the 18 short films selected to the Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival (LABRFF), that will take place July 15 through 19 at the Academy’s Lindwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood, and the Landmark Theatre in West Los Angeles. Note: Jul 19th is my birthday! I would love to get the perfect present and you know what it is, right? LOL

On July 15th, festival will offer world premiere of “Open Road”, directed by Marcio Garcia, starring Andy Garcia, Camilla Belle, John Savage, Juliette Lewis, Colin Egglesfield and Christiane Torloni.

The screening of my film is on Wednesday (18th) at 7:30 pm at the Landmark Movie Theatre (10850 West Pico at Westwood Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90064).

STUFFED is also officially selected to the Las Vegas Film Festival, that will take place at the beautiful Las Vegas Hilton Hotel and Casino July 19th - 22nd, 2012. Dedicated to showcasing the finest American and international cinema the world has to offer, the festival's mission is to bridge the gap between independent film audiences and filmmakers, as well as to connect emerging filmmakers with established industry professionals.

The festival offers a variety of film screenings from Oscar-winning films to world premieres, exclusive celebrity tributes and interviews, interactive panel discussions, a screenplay competition, red carpet parties, a filmmaker reception, as well as a closing night ceremony and awards. The screening of STUFFED will be held on Sunday, July 22, at 11 am - Hilton Hotel.

Meu curta COISADO é um dos 18 curtas selecionados para o Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival, que acontece de 15 a 19 de julho em LA. Detalhe: 19/jul é meu aniversário! Eu quero um presente perfeito e vc já sabe qual é, né? kkkkk

COISADO também faz parte da seleção oficial do Las Vegas Film Festival, que acontece no Las Vegas Hilton Hotel Casino de 19 a 22 de julho. Dedicado a mostrar o melhor do cinema americano e internacional, a missão do festival é fazer a ponte entre o público e os cineastas independentes, bem como conectar cineastas emergentes com profissionais estabelecidos na indústria.

O festival oferece uma variedade de exibições de filmes vencedores de Oscar a estréias mundiais, homenagens exclusivas e entrevistas com celebridades, painéis interativos, um concurso de roteiro, festas de tapete vermelho, uma recepção para cineastas, bem como cerimônia de premiação na noite de encerramento. A exibição de COISADO será realizada no domingo, 22 de julho, às 11 horas, no Hotel Hilton.

Festival in Canada screens Stuffed tomorrow

My film STUFFED is one of the 25 shorts officially selected to the 3rd Dark Bridges Film Festival, a premiere showcase of cool independent and foreign genre films that will take place from today to 6th in Saskatoon, Canada.

My short film will precede the screening of the Australian noir award-winning feature Crawl tomorrow night, 7pm, at The Broadway Theatre.

Don't miss as well the fun and quirky black comedy Some Guy Who Kills People, directed by my dear mentor Jack Perez (The Big Empty), on Sat (5th), 2:30pm, at the same venue.

SCBFF screens my short Stuffed next week!

I'm very proud to announce that my short film STUFFED has been selected to the 5th Southern California Business Film Festival, that will take place next week -- from Feb. 27th to Mar. 4th -- in USC's campus, Los Angeles.

Sponsored by the USC Marshall School of Business, the festival combines two of the world's most powerful aspects -- film and business -- creating a week-long film extravaganza that includes extensive cast and crew-hosted screening series, networking events, speaker panels and student film competition.

STUFFED is in consideration for the Competitive event, which will grant awards in the following categories:

Best Picture Best Directing Audience Choice Award Best Screenplay Best Cinematography

Best Musical Score Best Actor Best Actress Best Editing Best Incorporation of Business Elements

Fingers crossed for the amazing talents that were part of this cast and crew to be awarded the prizes above mentioned.

The Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Sunday (03/04), in USC's Campus Center Ballroom, at 1:30pm. I assume general admission is free.

Special screening in Southeastern Brazil next Monday | 'Coisado' em Vitória nesta segunda

Next Monday, at 8pm, the Cine Metropolis, in the city of Vitoria (Southeastern Brazil) will held an avant-premiere of the short film "Stuffed", followed by a Q&A with the director Gabby Egito.

"Stuffed" is the thesis film of a 1-year program at one of the best film schools in the world, the New York Film Academy, based at Universal Studios in Los Angeles, where the director studied with a merit grant. The short has been selected to film festivals abroad and has won the award for Best Short Drama at the Atlantic City Cinefest, in New Jersey (USA). Gabby also wrote and directed the short film "Synergy", awarded at the festival Awareness in Hollywood.

Nesta segunda-feira (02/01), às 20h, o Cine Metrópolis realiza uma sessão especial de pré-lançamento do curta-metragem “Coisado”, com a presença da diretora Gabby Egito, que morou quase 20 anos em Vitória, se formou em Jornalismo e Psicologia pela Ufes, e hoje mora em Los Angeles.

O filme “Coisado” é fruto do curso de um ano em uma das melhores escolas de cinema do mundo, a New York Film Academy, na filial da Universal Studios, em Los Angeles, onde Gabby estudou com bolsa por mérito artístico. O curta, ainda inédito no Brasil, está participando de festivais no exterior e já ganhou o prêmio de Melhor Curta de Drama no Atlantic City Cinefest, em Nova Jersey (EUA). Gabby escreveu e dirigiu também o curta “Sinergia”, premiado no festival Awareness, em Hollywood.

O que é Coisado

“Quando alguém quer coisas demais na vida, pode acabar coisado”, brinca a diretora Gabby Egito quando perguntam o porquê do título inusitado. Ela diz que, para entender o que significa, tem que assistir ao filme. A escolha do título tem também uma segunda razão. O personagem do detetive particular no conto de Marcelo Carneiro da Cunha, em que o curta-metragem é baseado, foi inspirado no jagunço Hermógenes do clássico “Grande Sertão: Veredas”, de Guimarães Rosa. E o autor é conhecido por inventar palavras em seus romances, incorporando expressões populares à cultura erudita.  “É uma forma singela de homenagem ao mesmo tempo em que cria uma certa curiosidade nas pessoas com relação ao filme”, explica a diretora.

Tonight, at 9pm, my short film "Stuffed" ("Coisado" in Portuguese) will be screened at the Cine Sesi of the city of Maceio, in Northeastern Brazil, and I will be attending the event. The short film is the result of a one year program in one of the best film schools in the world, the New York Film Academy, based at Universal Studios in Los Angeles, where I studied with a talent-based grant.

The film, yet unreleased in Brazil, is participating in festivals abroad and has won the award for Best Short Drama Cinefest in Atlantic City, New Jersey (USA). I also wrote and directed the short film "Synergy", awarded at the festival Awareness in Hollywood.

I feel very proud to represent the Brazilian culture abroad, and very happy because the reception in the United States has been wonderful!.

"Stuffed" is entirely spoken in English, is 15 minutes long and tells the story of a private investigator (Steve Bartlett) hired by an arrogant publicist (Phil Miller) to investigate if their partner is stealing from their agency, tirggering unforeseen consequences.

In addition to American actors, the cast includes the Brazilian Phil Miller, nominated for Best Actor for his performance in Short "thing" in Atlantic City Cinefest. He is known for playing Saint Never in Ford commercials, broadcasted nationally for three years, and he is at the biggest hit in Brazilian movie theaters this year, "O Palhaço" (The Clown), by Selton Mello.

The film was shot in Los Angeles by a team of 14 nationalities and is based on a short story by Marcelo Carneiro da Cunha, Jabuti Award nominee this year, and with two novels adapted into film, including "Antes que o Mundo Acabe" (Before the World Ends) which debuted in Brazilian silver screens last year.

Também já atuou em grandes produções de cinema como “Sabor da Paixão”, com Penélope Cruz, e a animação em 3D “Rio”.

O curta foi rodado em Los Angeles por uma equipe de 14 nacionalidades e é baseado em conto do escritor brasileiro Marcelo Carneiro da Cunha, indicado ao Prêmio Jabuti deste ano, e com diversos romances adaptados para o cinema, entre eles, “Antes que o Mundo Acabe”, cujo longa estreou nas salas brasileiras no ano passado.

Brazilian TV show in U.S. interviews me this Saturday | TV Globo me entrevista sábado

The TV show Planeta Brasil of this week will show the routine of Brazilians who came to America to study with scholarships from some of the most renowned educational institutions in the country.

In California, the host André Szapiro meets GABBY EGITO, award-winning filmmaker who studies at New York Film Academy in Los Angeles.

In Utah, the researcher Camille Novis reveals how she enrolled the university to research a cure for HIV. And in Florida, the volleyball coach from Barry University tells how he imports talents as Julia Rio Teixeira, who left Brazil to play volleyball and study International Affairs.

Planeta Brasil is a half-hour program that shows how Brazilians live outside Brazil. It shares their struggles and successes building lives in a foreign culture. The TV show is produced by F.J. Productions and airs weekly on TV Globo International, a satellite channel that reaches over 1.2 million viewers across the world and is present in 42 countries. In the United States, it is distributed by Dish Network, Comcast and Time Warner.

O Planeta Brasil desta semana vai mostrar a rotina de brasileiros que foram para os EUA para estudar com bolsas de estudo de algumas das mais renomadas instituições de ensino do país.
