Acompanho o teu blog desde o começo de maio. Sempre gostei de cinema e só não fiz faculdade porque não imaginava que o trabalho e o prazer deveriam andar juntos. Hoje me encontro na situação relatada por você no blog, ou seja, fazer o que realmente gosta. Por isso, agradeço por compartilhar sua saga desde o início e inserir a todos neste ambiente estimulante e competitivo da nyfa. Quero abusar um pouco da sua boa vontade e pedir alguns conselhos, pois vou começar a minha saga em 2011. Vamos lá:
- Alguém que nunca fez graduação ou Mestrado em cinema consegue acompanhar as aulas?
- Caso a resposta anterior tenha sido não, acha melhor fazer cinema na Austrália (2 anos em Perth), Canadá (1 ano em Vancouver ) ou Faculdade de Artes do Paraná (4 anos)?
- Tenho 32 anos e sou formado em Letras pela Unesp. Meu inglês é intermediário, mas até o fim do ano estará apto para o estudo (faço aulas particulares).

I follow your blog since early May. I always liked movies and just didn't do college on that because I never wonder work and pleasure could be together. Today I find myself in the situation described by you in the blog. So thank you for sharing your saga from the beginning and insert us all in this exciting and competitive environment of NYFA. I want to abuse a little of your good will and ask for some advice, because I will begin my saga in 2011. Here we go:
- Someone who has never studied filmmaking or has a Master's Degree in film can follow the course?
- If the previous answer was no, do you think it's better to study cinema in Australia (two years in Perth), Canada (one year in Vancouver) or the Faculty of Arts of Paraná (4 years)?
- I'm 32 and I graduated in Literature. My English is intermediate, but by the end of the year I will be proficient.

Obrigada por me acompanhar. rsrsrs Desculpe as respostas sucintas, mas tou meio atribulada por aki.
1) Acompanhar as aulas depende basicamente do seu nível de inglês. Tirar maior proveito das aulas depende do seu conhecimento técnico prévio de cinema. Senão vai ficar tudo muito raso.
2) Qual o tipo de filme que vc mais gosta? Americano, australiano, canadense ou paranaense? Eu vim pra cá pq quero aprender como os americanos fazem filmes. Me interesso pelo american way e não pelo europeu, por exemplo. A Nyfa tb tem curso de 1 ano ou 2 de cinema.
3) Acima de tudo, procure um lugar onde exista PRÁTICA. Agora, mais do q nunca, tenho certeza disso. Meus anos de estudo não foram suficientes pra eu escrever e dirigir bem nem o primeiro projeto, nem o segundo, etc. Precisa muito ensaio-tentativa-erro pra dar certo. Se der!
4) Estude com quem entende. Não sei no Paraná, mas já fiz inúmeros cursos em SP com gente que tinha noção do básico mas que nunca vai captar a essência do que realmente é fazer cinema (muito mais do que uma bela fotografia). Nem eu peguei direito ainda, mesmo depois de tanto tempo batendo cabeça.

Thank you for following my blog. Sorry the brief answers, but there's too much work to do here.
1) Follow the classes basically depends on your level of English. Taking full advantage of the lessons depends on your technical knowledge of filmmaking. Otherwise it'll be too shallow.
2) What kind of film you like best? American, Australian, Canadian or Brazilian? I came here because I really want to learn how Americans make movies. I'm interested by the American Filmmaking and not by European, for example. NYFA has one year or two year courses as well.
3) Above all, seek a place where there's PRACTICE. Now more than ever, I'm sure about that. My years of study were not enough for me to write and direct well the first project, nor the second. We need to try a lot and do mistakes to learn.
4) Study with someone who understands filmmaking. I do not know about Parana, but I have done numerous courses in Sao Paulo with people who had the basic idea but that will never capture the essence of what really is making movies (much more than a beautiful photography). Neither I got right yet, even after all this time hitting my head on the wall.
