I'm acting on an American feature film | Sou atriz em um filme americano!

Last Friday I had the chance to exercise my actress side. It was one of those things that happen in life: to be on the right time in the right place. I was invited to participate in the filming of an independent feature film called "Perfect Family" - directed by Anne Renton, written by Paula Goldberg and Claire Riley.

The scene that I did is one of the highlights of the film: during a luncheon party will be announced the winner of Catholic Woman of the Year Award. Kathleen Turner (Chandler's mother/father on "Friends") is one of the nominees. Conservative, she believes that her family is perfect, refusing to accept that her daughter (Emily Deschanel, from the "Bones" series), a successful lawyer, is a lesbian, and that her son has dropped his wife for an older woman. Kathleen's husband (Michael McGrady) is a recovering alcoholic. The film has also Richard Chamberlain (from "The Thorn Birds", remember?) as the monsignor.

I was willing to be just one of the guests to the party in the parish. There were Kathleen Turner, Richard Chamberlain and Emily Deschanel. But at the time of filming, the second assistant director asked me and a friend if we had some experience to act. "Sure," we replied. This friend of mine (Brazilian as well) worked as an extra for 15 days in the filming of "The Terminal" (with Tom Hanks). And I, well, I've done some things as an actress in Brazil. It turned out that I cross on the scene with the antagonist of the story, the actress Sharon Lawrence ("Desperate Housewives" and "Grey's Anatomy"), and she greets me. Then I sat at the table where the camera was positioned. So I'll probably show up too! Yupi!

Even without that, it was an excellent opportunity to watch a professional team working. I could identify each professional (director, 1st assistant, 2nd assistant director of photography, 1st assistant camera and 2nd assistant camera, etc.). And check how each member of the crew acts on the set. I loved it!

Na sexta, tive a chance de exercitar meu lado atriz. Foi uma dessas coisas que acontecem de repente: estar na hora certa no lugar certo. Fui convidada para participar das filmagens de um longa-metragem independente chamado “Perfect Family” – dirigido por Anne Renton, com roteiro de Paula Goldberg e Claire Riley.

A cena que eu fiz é um dos pontos altos do filme: durante um almoço festivo será anunciada a ganhadora do prêmio de Mulher Católica do Ano. A personagem de Kathleen Turner (a mãe/pai do Chandler em "Friends") é uma das indicadas. Conservadora, ela acredita que sua família é perfeita, recusando-se a aceitar que sua filha (Emily Deschanel, da série “Bones”), uma bem-sucedida advogada, seja lésbica, e que seu filho tenha largado a esposa por uma mulher mais velha. O marido de Kathleen (Michael McGrady) é um alcoólatra em recuperação. O filme conta ainda com a participação de Richard Chamberlain (aquele de “Pássaros Feridos”, lembra?) como monsenhor.

Fui disposta a ser somente mais uma das convidadas para a festa na paróquia. Estavam lá Kathleen Turner, Richard Chamberlain e Emily Deschanel. Mas, na hora de filmar, o segundo assistente de direção perguntou a mim e a um amigo se tínhamos alguma experiência para atuar. “Claro!”, respondemos. Esse meu amigo (brasileiro) trabalhou como figurante por 15 dias nas filmagens de “O Terminal” (com Tom Hanks). E eu, bem, já fiz umas coisinhas como atriz no Brasil (que me renderam um registro profissional). Acabou que na cena eu cruzo com a antagonista da história, a atriz Sharon Lawrence (“Desperate Housewives” e “Grey's Anatomy”), e ela me cumprimenta. Depois, sentei na mesa onde foi posicionada a câmera. Então provavelmente vou aparecer também! hehehe

Mesmo sem isso, foi uma excelente oportunidade para observar uma equipe profissional trabalhando. Consegui identificar cada profissional (diretor, 1º assistente, 2º assistente, diretor de fotografia, 1º assistente de câmera, 2º assistente de câmera, etc.) e conferir como cada um age no set. Adorei!
